Cordata Gallery is proud to present the exhibition Fresh Perspectives showcasing juried artwork by the talented artists of the Women Painters of Washington, an all-female arts organization founded in 1930.

This exhibition is a celebration of contemporary art and its power to connect people with the world showcasing artists whose works carry emotional depth and a genuine connection to the audience. Through their use of various mediums and techniques, these artists have brought to life stunning representations of their imagination, emotions, and experiences. Each piece tells a story and evokes emotion, inviting the viewer to explore and connect with the ideas being presented. Through their use of different mediums and styles, they offer a fresh take on a subject of their own choosing.

Through this exhibition, we hope to challenge the viewer to see the world through a new lens. At its essence, art is about exploring ideas and expressing oneself in a way that can transcend language and cultural barriers. By showcasing these ‘fresh perspectives’, we hope to offer a transformative experience, encouraging visitors to connect with the world around them more meaningfully.

The Gallery aims to foster creativity and facilitate a deeper understanding of different cultures and perspectives through the arts. Fresh Perspectives reflects this ethos—a space where artists can share their unique vision and encourage a new way of thinking.  Enjoy this varied collection of works, and perhaps allow yourself to be inspired by the new perspectives it offers.

Women Painters of Washington (WPW) was founded in 1930 by six women artists to help each other deal with the limitations placed upon them as female artists. Twenty-five female artists were invited to be Charter Members and a President was elected.  It was the first professional organization for women artists in the Pacific Northwest; our first President laid a cornerstone at the Seattle Art Museum in 1933. WPW has continually proven itself to represent artwork of the highest quality. Over the years, the organization has had over 1,000 members, many of whom have significantly impacted the contemporary art world nationally and abroad.
