Clara “Grandma Joe” Anderson

Clara Anderson, known to her family as “Grandma Joe” and with her artistic creations influenced two generations of artists after her, was a self-taught painter based in Edmonds, WA. Grandma Joe had always wanted to be a painter, but felt she had to raise her family first. She did not begin painting seriously until she was in her early 70’s, using her kitchen as her first studio. Grandma Joe’s world materialized in this kitchen as she painted and adorned the walls through with many of her beautiful landscapes.
